Development of Energy Efficient (More Than 50%) Dehumidification Technology Using Refrigeration System Ensuring Consistent Temperature and Humidity in all Weather Conditions

Problem

  • Fungus formation in garment in finished product during storage
  • 98% RH with 30C ambient temperature
We partnered with the client to design and implement solution with Danfoss SZ110 scroll compressor and allied controls (Expansion valve, Filter Drier, Sight Glass, Solenoid Valve, Pressure controls, Temperature sensors) that addressed these challenges while incorporating key unique selling propositions (USPs). Danfoss and FX technical team played important role to run the tests for worst operating conditions and got it qualified.

Traditional Solution

  • Using polytene cover to give protection against fungus during storage period.
  • Fungus forming on polytene cover
  • Then unpack and use new polytene cover before dispatch
  • Traditional de-humidifier used in-effectively

Dis-advantage

  • Excess use of plastic material
  • Double manpower
  • Delayed delivery
  • Quality of the product like bad smell

Solution

  • Refrigeration Dryer has been installed in place of traditional methods

Advantage

  • Required RH of 26-27% with 28-29 C temp. achieved
  • 22-28 kW power consumed against 44-50 kW
  • Use of fossil fuel reduced below 50%
  • Comfortable environment for workers increases efficiency
  • Reduced manhours and plastic consumption by 50%

  • Line components like electronic expansion valve, Filter drier, Sight Glass, Solenoid Valve, Pressure sensors, Pressure Switches, Hot Gas Bypass valve etc.
